  1. Students in design studio to build inflatable playground for local children Photos by Cody Schoeler

  2. Martin Trejo, third year architecture student uses a rubber mallet to attach snap fasteners to the fabric. These will allow for the pieces to be moved around and rearranged.

  3. Jennifer Kim, third year architecture student, sews a zipper onto a piece of the inflatable structure. Only three students were experienced with sewing before the project, but now they have all spent hours sewing.

  4. Caryl Hernandez, third year architecture student, holds up a part of the inflatable structure as they inflate it to show the children. The students had to sew the seams multiple times to make sure no air would escape when inflated.

  5. Kids at the WSU Children’s Center run around and through the inflatable structure. The students had an installation presentation where they showed their inflatable to the kids that would be using it in the future.

  6. One of the kids of the WSU Children’s Center runs through a tunnel of the inflatable playground during the installation presentation. The interactive nature of the structure will allow for kids to be in nature when they use the playground.

  7. The students and advisors that designed and built the inflatable pose for a group picture to commemorate their hard work. The group will present their design and digital renderings at the American Institute of Architects Student Design Competition in Spokane on April 25.
