HOW TO FIND IPHONE UDID WITH OR WITHOUT ITUNES
If you are planning to launch your iOS application to the apple store, you might be asked for UDID of your device by your iOS app developer during the iOS app development process.
So Let’s take a quick review of what is UDID?
Every iOS device, including iPhone, iPad, iPod has identified Uniquely with UDID (Unique Device Identifier) by Apple which contains 40 alphanumeric number like a serial number. Don’t misguide is, Serial number is not UDID, both are totally different. Apple also uses this UDID to connect devices to a user’s Apple ID which allows devices to automatically download, upload and install apps purchased on the App Store, or music purchased from iTunes.
Now, Why Is Your iOS App Developer Need UDID of Your Device?
Basically, UDID is used to connect an iOS device to an Apple Developer Account, which allows that device to install and beta ios application developed by your iOS app developer during the iOS app development process before their public release on apple store. Adding the UDID to a developer account will also allow your device to install beta releases of an iOS operating system for the testing purpose.
There are Different ways to find UDID, either by connecting your device to a computer or laptop or without connecting. We will discuss both kinds of methods.
Method 1: Get Your UDID Using iTunes (Will required to connect your device to your laptop or computer)
This is a first way to find UDID using apple’s technique only. But in this way you need a laptop or desktop and USB cable of your iOS device. Once you have required stuff, just follow the simple steps as mentioned below.
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to a computer or laptop via USB cable and launch the iTunes application. Now you can see your device icon on iTunes.
Step 2: Choose your iPhone from the navigation menu at the top left and make sure the Summary section is selected. You can see the serial number as below image.
Step 3: Now click on the serial number of your device and it will display your device’s UDID. Please note that there cannot highlight or select the UDID but you can press Command C or Control C to copy the UDID to your clipboard.
Step 4: Now you have the UDID of your device, open your email client or IM and send your UDID to your iOS app developer.
