  1. Refusing Documents to Sign There may be times when you may need to refuse a document to sign due to insufficient or incorrect data. At this time, any document refusal will be forwarded to the Health Information Management department (HIM, Inbox). ED Physicians should forward refused documents to the ED Inbox (ED, Inbox). DO NOTforward documents to another provider! This function is not being implemented at this time. Lesson 2 Refusing a Document

  2. Refusing Documents to Sign • To refuse a document, complete the following steps: • With the document open, select Refuse in the Action Pane Lesson 2 Refusing a Document

  4. Refusing Documents to Sign • Select Sign in the Additional Forward Action field. By selecting Sign you are instructing the recipient to sign the forwarded document. • Do NOT select Review from the Additional Forward Action field!! If you do, the document will not show in the HIM Inbox and the deficiency will not be released from the provider. Lesson 2 Refusing a Document

  5. Refusing Documents to Sign • In the To field, enter “HIM, Inbox” to send the document to Health Information Management for review. If you are an ED physician, enter “ED, Inbox” • Type in a comment in the Comment field if needed • Once complete, select OK or OK & Next Note: If the document is not ready to be signed or refused you can select Skip to move on to the next document.   6. Refusing Documents to Sign Once the OK or OK & Next button is selected, the document will show up in your Sent Items with a status of Pending indicating the document has been sent to HIM for further review. Lesson 2 Refusing a Document

  7. Refusing Documents to Sign If a comment is entered on a refused document it will show up in the subject line when forwarded and also in the History pane of the document. Lesson 2 Refusing a Document

  8. Refusing Documents to Sign • To view the history of a document hover the mouse over the bottom line of the screen until it turns into a double arrow . • Hold down the mouse button and pull up History Pane to desired view. Lesson 2 Refusing a Document

  9. Refusing Documents to Sign All comments can be viewed by any user with access to the patient’s medical record. Only comments pertinent to the document should be entered. Important Note!! Lesson 2 Refusing a Document
