Executive Branch The President is the Head of State, Head Executive, and Commander in Chief of the American Military. The President has the power to veto law and can be impeached and removed by Congress. The President is not directly elected by the people. Executive Branch The V.P. ‘s main function is to assume the office of the Presidency if the President dies or is unable to perform his duties.
