  1. DO NOW • Power up your laptop or electronic device. • Be prepared to create log-in and password information for websites that will be used this year in English II. • If you are without a laptop or your personal cell phone/tablet, please utilize the desktop computers. • I will walk you through setting up accounts today only. So PAY ATTENTION!!!

  2. Emails • My HISD email is kdavis21@houstonisd.org. Please use this address for all correspondence, unless you are told do so otherwise. • Occasionally, I will tell you to use ksdfbusiness@gmail.com. This is only when you are sending large files (i.e. slideshows, videos, or pictures). • Please do not approach me about grades or assignments during class or in the hallway. Email your questions or concerns to kdavis21@houstonisd.org and I will reply ASAP. Please make sure your emails are detailed. I will not go on a treasure hunt to decrypt your message. Please be courteous. Rude emails will be ignored.

  3. Make-up Assignments • Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to find out what YOU missed! Check the course blog. Check the “In Case You Missed This…” folder. If you still aren’t clear AFTER you have done the aforementioned steps, ASK SOMEONE!!! Closed mouths are not fed. [The same goes for supplies. If you need something, don’t hesitate to ask me in private.] • For any work that is not turned in according to the time allotment stated in your syllabus, you may upload ONE assignment to the “______ Cycle Make-Up Work” assignment on turnitin.com. If it is a paper-based assignment, you will need a make-up ticket. I will give those out as needed. Make-up assignments are typically not graded until the end of the cycle. • Keep in mind, you must contact me by email beforehand if you need to come by and speak with me. Office hours and tutorials are by appointment only. That means you must THINK and PLAN AHEAD. Monday/Wednesday – 11:20-11:40.

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE • You will use the rest of today’s class period to explore the websites that you will be using in this class and to work on your first list on vocabulary.com. • You may access this list at: https://www.vocabulary.com/lists/1189583 • You may also go to our class blog and click directly from today’s post. • This list is due on September 12th. Your percentage of MASTERY is your grade. • Lists will close on their due date and I will not reopen a list. KEEP UP!!! • From this day forth, you are responsible for all content and assignments that are posted and are due online.
