Being born • The second laid egg hatches several days before the first egg. The breeding season starts in June.
Adult penguin looks like • It has a thick yellow stripe running above the eye. The Fiordlandpenguin has a blue/ black colored back. It’s size is 24-27 inches weight 3-6 kg.
Habitat • The Fiordlandpenguin is found in the Fiordlandcoast. It shares its habitat with other penguins like the yellow eyed and little penguin.
How it moves • My penguin waddles and swims. It waddles for walking on land. They swim while hunting for food in water.
What it eats • The Fiordland penguin’s favorite food is krill. The Fiordlandis a predator and prey. They also eat fish and squid.
This is what could harm or threaten my penguin… • The Fiordland penguin’s predators: cats, dogs, foxes, along with rats and weasels on land. In water: large seals, fur seals, leopard seals, large sharks, and killer whales.
Interesting facts • The reason it got the name Fiordlandis where it lives is the Fiordlandisland. Its nickname is crested penguin because it has a crest above the eye.
