  1. HOME TOWN RECRUITING Major Mariger 18 NOV 13

  2. Mission • Increase the number of retainable cadet applicants and educate prospective students about what it really means to be a member of the Corps of Cadets (& show off your sharp uniforms!) • We want to sustain a Corps of 1,000 cadets by making sure we enroll quality classes that want to stay here!

  3. Execution All Freshmen and Juniors cadets are expected to complete at least one recruiting activity during Thanksgiving Break (Cadets from all classes are encouraged to participate.) • At a minimum: Drop off an information packet at your high school’s guidance office or to a local high school while you’re home. • Bonus: Set up a display table with the guidance office to talk to prospective students. (Contact your local high school now to arrange this!) • Holy Grail: Conduct an informational session with interested students and collect their contact information so we can follow up with them to ask them to Spend the Night.

  4. What You Need To Do • Pick up your Recruiting Bag from your Company Recruiting Representative beginning today In the bag will be: • Handouts for Interested High School Student • including our new brochure & an Army magnet • Download from www.vtcc.vt.edu: • How to Coordinate a Visit with Your High School • **A School Visitation Confirmation Sheet** • to be signed by the high school faculty (Gold Cord points for this!) & attach their business card • Must turn this in no later than Friday, 24 January 2014 (first Friday after returning from Christmas Break) • Additional Information Sheet • Interested high school students can request more information and I will mail them an information packet

  5. Gold Cord Points Breakdown • Hometown Recruiting is a Gold Cord activity • Thanksgiving and Christmas Break • Packet Drop Off Only = 1 point • Packet and Display = 3 points • Packet and Meeting = 3 points • Cadets can visit more than one high school, work together to present to local area high schools, go to a sibling’s high school , etc. to earn more Gold Cord points.
