  3. GUN TRIPLE PHILOSOPHY • THE GUN TRIPLE PLAY IS THE “BREAD AND BUTTER” PLAY OF THE OFFENSE • IT IS A TRIPLE OPTION PLAY OUT OF THE GUN THAT GIVES THE TAILBACK THE OPTION TO CUT BACK, ESSENTIALLY BECOMING 4 PLAYS IN 1 • THIS PLAY WILL BE RUN WITH OR WITHOUT MOTION

GUN TRIPLE RULES • OFFENSIVE LINE • “TRIPLE” SCHEME • THIS WILL BE THE “TRIPLE” BLOCKING SCHEME FOR THE LINE • EVERYBODY IS RESONSIBLE FOR THEIR BACKSIDE GAP • COMBINATION BLOCKS WILL BE USED FOR ANY PLAYSIDE SHADES FROM THE 3-TECH IN • COMBINATION BLOCKS WILL BE USED FOR ANY BACKSIDE SHADES FROM THE 2-TECH IN • IF YOU ARE NOT COMBO BLOCKING, YOU ARE BLOCKING BACK ON THE DL OR LB IN YOUR GAP • THERE WILL BE A “SOLID” CALL MADE AGAINST LB’S SHOWING BLITZ AT THE L.O.S. “SOLID” TELLS THE OL TO BLOCK BACK AND THAT THE COMBO BLOCK IS OFF

GUN TRIPLE RULES • OFFENSIVE LINE • PT – TIGHT INSIDE VEER RELEASE CHIPPING EMOLOS – BLOCK 1ST MAN INSIDE (“B” GAP DEFENDER) • PG – POST THE “A” GAP, RIP THE “B” GAP • C – POST THE BACKSIDE “A” GAP, RIP THE PLAYSIDE “A” GAP • BG – BACKSIDE “B” GAP DEFENDER WITH OR WITHOUT COMBO • BT – BACKSIDE “C” GAP DEFENDER

  6. GUN TRIPLE RULES • QUARTERBACK • WILL ALIGN W/ HEELS AT 4 YARDS DIRECTLY BEHIND CENTER • CATCH SNAP AND POINT BALL DIRECTLY AT THE H.O.K. (HAND OFF KEY – FLASH METHOD) • IF H.O.K. DOES ANYTHING BUT COME FLAT DOWN THE L.O.S. TO COLLISION OUR TB – GIVE THE BALL! • IF PULL, GET NORTH/SOUTH AND THINK RUN UNLESS • IF PK FORCES YOU TO PITCH THEN PITCH CHEST-TO-CHEST WITH MOMENTUM FINISHING TOWARD OUR PITCH MAN TO SOFTEN BLOW

GUN TRIPLE RULES • TAILBACK/FULLBACK • 5 YARDS DIRECTLY BEHIND QB • 2 PT STANCE; WILL SHUFFLE PLAYSIDE FOOT – PLANT AND HIT THE A GAP AT 100 MPH IF OPEN; IF NOT, SLIDE AND GLIDE TECHNIQUE (KEEP SHOULDERS SQUARE TO THE L.O.S. – FIND AN OPENING ANYWHERE FROM BACKSIDE A TO PLAYSIDE B AND ACCELERATE THROUGH HOLE) • OUR SPLITS SHOULD CREATE “CAVITIES” TO FIND AND RUN THROUGH RATHER THAN “CREASES” • IF PULLED, RUN THROUGH THE TACKLER AND LOOK TO BLOCK PURSUING LB OR SECONDARY – DON’T STOP!

GUN TRIPLE RULES • PLAYSIDE SLOT/FLANKER • 3 COUNT (SEAL ILB TO FS) OR 4 COUNT (ARC ON SECONDARY RUN SUPPORT…EITHER SAFETY OR CORNER) • 1x1 OFF OUTSIDE FOOT OF TACKLE • PITCHBACK • PITCH, NO MOTION (UNLESS CALLED) • RUN TO THE HEELS OF TB THEN GET FLAT • MAINTAIN 5 x 1 PITCH RELATIONSHIP, DON’T TURN UNTIL THE QB TURNS • CATCH PITCH AND GET NORTH/SOUTH • 1x1 OFF OUTSIDE FOOT OF TACKLE • PLAYSIDE SPLIT END AND BACKSIDE SPLIT END • SLOW BLOCK #1, ALIGN 8-16 YARDS DEPENDING • IF “CHARLIE” IS CALLED, THE P/S SE AND P/S SLOT SWITCH BLOCKING ASSIGNMENTS

  9. GUN TRIPLE COUNT SYSTEM • DRAW AN IMAGINARY LINE DOWN THE INSIDE FOOT OF THE PST AND COUNT OUT • VS 4-3 OR 3-4, COVER 2 OR 4 - THERE IS A 4 COUNT • VS 4-4 OR 3-3-5, COVER 3 - THERE IS A 3 COUNT

  11. GUN TRIPLE – BUBBLE RULES • SAME AS GUN TRIPLE EXCEPT THE QB WILL THROW A BUBBLE OFF THE PITCH KEY INSTEAD OF PITCHING THE BALL • THE PLAYSIDE SLOT/FLANKER WILL RUN THE BUBBLE SCREEN INSTEAD OF HIS REGULAR 3 OR 4 COUNT

  13. GUN SPEED RULES • SAME AS GUN TRIPLE EXCEPT THE LEAD BACK (FULLBACK OR TAILBACK) WILL WRAP AROUND AND BLOCK THE OLB TO SAFETY • QB WILL TREAT EMOLOS AS THE PITCH INSTEAD OF DIVE (DOUBLE OPTION)

INSIDE ZONE RULES • QUARTERBACK • DEEP “RIDE” TECHNIQUE WITH TAILBACK • AFTER, FAKE SPEED OPTION • TAILBACK • TAKE EITHER “RIDE” HANDOFF FROM QB DEEP IN THE BACKFIELD AND LOOK FOR ANY HOLE BREAKING FROM BACKSIDE “B” GAP TO PLAYSIDE “B” GAP – RUN TO DAYLIGHT! • FULLBACK • KICK OUT PLAYSIDE “C” GAP THREAT • NO MATTER WHERE THE FULLBACK IS, HE MUST GET ACROSS AND KICK OUT THE PLAYSIDE “C” GAP PLAYER
