Travel issues – Reentering U.S. • Must get “U Visa” at U.S. Consulate in home country. • Check website of that U.S. Consulate for instructions • Set NonImmigrant Visa appointment EARLY in trip • Take Consular packet • Consular specifics on Google Doc – register with Jess Farb: jfarb@iibayarea.org • New I-192 may be required • File with VSC • Request expedite (hotlinefollowupi918i914.vsc@dhs.gov) • Get approval notice to traveler to present at Consulate

Consular Packet • Email and send with traveler: • DS-156 or DS-160 (check website) • Any other documents listed on website • Copies of I-918 approval (w/1-94) and I-192 approval notices • FAM 41.85 • New Department of State Instructions to consulates  • Other documents/info described in Google Doc

  3. Travel Risks • Inadmissibility factors that have not been waived • Consulates do what they want • Substantial delays or worse • Cannot adjust if more than 90/180 days out • Possibility of LEA letter that absence was “otherwise justified”

  4. Travel: Initial Entry • For: • Principals who left US before U approved • Derivatives who have not been in U.S. • Consular Appointment • Email Consulate after I-918 or I-918A approved • Provide contact info for person seeking entry • Consulate should contact person for appt. • Details on Google Doc (jfarb@iibayarea.org) • 3 years toward Adjustment starts at entry
