Plymouth South Middle School School Improvement Plan • Originally drafted by 2012-13 School Council under Principal John Siever • Presented to School Committee in June 2013 • Created as a one year plan in consideration of the upcoming change in leadership
Plymouth South Middle School Plan Moving Forward • Council will use current plan for this academic year (with minor revisions) • Allow time for Principal Morgenweck to identify areas of growth and improvement • Council will create new, 2-year plan to be presented in November 2014
Plymouth South Middle School Plan Revisions • Integrate Goal #2 into Goal #1 • Revise language to reflect staff, resources, and programs added over the summer • Initial alignment of Principal’s Goals • Update “Progress / Challenges / Indicators”
Plymouth South Middle School Goal #1 - To Enhance the Academic Achievement of All Students at All Levels Progress / Challenges / Indicators • Ongoing staff training in RtI and child study process • PCT available for child study at team level • Alignment of tiers of support (MTSS Model) • Full adoption of Aspen Grade Book (Grades 6-8) • Expanded use of common assessments to monitor student progress • Fitness Gram in PE classes • Tech Integration web site as instructional resource • Tech fair sponsored by the Literacy Support Team • Addition of Consulting Teacher of Literacy • Grade 8 visit to Bridgewater State University
Plymouth South Middle School Goal #2 – To Ensure a Safe and Positive Learning Environment Progress / Challenges / Indicators • Staff training on intervention strategies related to student behavior • Increased participation in clubs and athletics • Promotion of peer leadership and service learning • Establish a Faculty Advisory Council • Develop educational programs with community partners including the PPD, the Office of the District Attorney, and MARC at BSU • Collaboration between the SRO and health teachers on units addressing social skill development and bullying • Continued partnership with PSHS and tutors from the National Honor Society
Plymouth South Middle School Goal #3 – To Maintain Effective Methods of Parent Communication and Reinforce Parental Involvement in the Education of their Children Progress / Challenges / Indicators • Promote parent portal of Aspen Grade Book • Teacher weekly duties includes time for parent contact regarding student performance • Parent email groups established and Aspen updated– Active addresses on file – 98% • PSMS Community Newsletter sent out weekly • Quarterly parent survey
