THE SOLAR SYSTEM ..... .....
Solar Nebular • The Solar Nebular is what formed the solar system. • It was made up of 75% hydrogen, 24% helium, and 1% other.
THE SUN • Our sun is made up of 70% hydrogen, 28% hilum and 2% other. • The sun is so big that it contains 99.8% of all the mass in our solar system. • The temperature can reach up to 15.6 million degrees kelvin. • The sun can produce up to 386 billion mega watts in one sec. • The suns hemisphere extends will beyond pluto .
MERCURY • Mercury can reach temperatures as high as 420 degree and down to -173 degrees. • It's only 4879 km around its equator. • It has been visited twice. • It orbits at 58 million km from the sun. • Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system.
VENUS • Venus can reach temperatures up to 460 degrees. • It orbits at 108 km from the sun. It takes 224 days to go around the sun. • Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system. • It has a vary thick atmosphere. It is 92 times that of Earths. • Venus has sulfuric acid in its atmosphere that rains down on the surface.
EARTH • Earth is the only known planet to support life. • We have just the right atmosphere and just the right distance from the sun to keep us warm. We also have a magnetic field. • Earth orbits at 150 million km from the sun. • We have one moon named luner.
THE MOON • The moon real name is luna. • The moon has many phases but the main phases are new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter, waning crescent. • Did you know that the moon is drifting 1 inch away ever year. • The moon also is responsible for the changing tides.
MARS • Mars orbits at 228 million km from the sun. • Mars has two moons Phobos and Dennis • Mars can reach as low as -140 degrees. • Mars is heavily studied by space craft and rovers.
ASTEROID BELT • The astroid belt is located in the middle of the orbits of Mars and Jupiter • Astroids are small rocky bodies that revolve around the sun. • Astroids are thought to be the building blocks of the solar system. • It has one twin called the Trojan belt.
JUPITER • Jupiter is the biggest planet in are solar system. • It orbits at 779 km from the sun. • Its diameter is 142,984 million km. • You could fit three Earths in the great red spot a hug storm that is 400 years+. • Jupiter is composed up of mostly gas. • Jupiter has 63 moons that we know of.
SATURN • Saturn orbits at 1.4 billion km from the sun. • Saturn is 120,000 million km across. • If you but saturn is water it would float!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! • Saturn has 60 moons so far and its ring are made up of icey particle ranging from dust to the size of cars. • Saturn has been visited 4 times.
URANUS • Uranus orbits at 2.9 billion km from the sun. • Uranus has 13 moons and has a small ring system. • Uranus is 51,000 across and its axial tilt is 98 degrees. • It has only been visited one time by space craft.
NEPTUNE • Neptune orbits at 4.5 km from the sun. • Neptune is 49,000 km across. • Neptune has been visited one time. • Neptune has 13 moons .
DWARF PLANET • A dwarf planet is a class of planets separated from the rest. When a planet is not big enough, irregular or dose not act like other planets.
COMETS • Comets have two tails a ion tail and a dust tail. • The ion tail is made up of electrically charge particles • The dust tail is what produces meteoroid showers. • The center is called nuclease and the special kind of gas that comes of the nuclease is called the comma.
METEOROIDS • Meteoroids are small bodes that orbit the sun slowly. • There are two other types of meteoroids, meteor, and meteorite. • A meteor burns up in a planets atmosphere. • A meteorite hits a planets surface.
KUIPER BELT • The kuiper belt contains thousands of icey bodies. • It is located at 35 AU. From the sun. • Comets that come from the kuiper belt are short period comets.
OORT CLOUD • The Oort cloud is a sherical region that extends half way to the nearest star. • The Oort cloud is made of billions of comets. • In other words we are in side a ball of comets.
THE SOLAR SYSTEM • The solar system is a awesome place and we are always finding more • BY CORD SHINN
