History of Quonset-Hut Buildings In 1941, the United States Navy needed an all-purpose, lightweight building that could be shipped anywhere and assembled without skilled labor. The George A. Fuller construction company was selected to manufacture them. The first was produced within 60 days of contract award. As the original design used low grade (non-strategic) steel, a more rust-resistant version was called for. The all-spruce "Quonset-Hut”was created for use in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Quonset-Hut Design’s For Commercial Building Steel Quonset Hut buildings are being used for increasingly inventive and innovative applications in the commercial world. Remarkable flexibility in terms of shapes, sizes, and door designs has been key in this development. A Quonset-Hutsteel commercial building is inexpensive to purchase, fast and easy to construct, and guaranteed to last longer than any other equivalent structure built from other materials.
Quonset-Hut Design’s ForResidential Building An arched Quonset styled residential building is an economical investment in one of the sturdiest structures money can buy. Both the astounding strength and resilience of these structures, along with their supreme ease in construction, were motivating factors when the military pioneered their usage in the nineteen-thirties and forties. The P-Framed Quonset is most popular among home and hobby customers, because it features a peaked roof – more typical of residential Quonset-Hutstyle homes - in a design that has its own unique aesthetics.
