  3. Decorative Designs • How can the way the pottery is decorated say something about where or when it was made?

  4. Pattern • Principle of Design • A regular repetition of colors, lines, shapes, or forms in an artwork.

  5. Unity • Principle of Design • The quality of an artwork that happens when all parts of an artwork work together to create a sense of wholeness and completion. • How do these show unity? • What other ideas do you have for using unity in pottery?

How will this determine the form you create? • How will you use pattern to make your pottery decorative? • How will you use unity in your pottery? • Draw the front view largest. • Draw a side view and back view (even if they are the same or similar to the front view).
