Chapter 16-1: The Cardiovascular System Notes Cardiovascular System: -a collection of organs that transport blood thruout the body.
5 main parts of cardiovascular system: -heart, -arteries, -capillaries, -veins, -blood
Artery: -a blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart to the body’s organs.
Capillary: -a tiny blood vessel that allows an exchange b/t blood and cells in other tissue. Vein: (in biology) -a vessel that carries blood to the heart
2 Types of blood circulation: -pulmonary -systemic Stroke: -when a blood vessel in the brain b/ms blocked or ruptures
Pulmonary Circulation: -the flow of blood from the heart to the lungs and back to the heart thruout the pulmonary arteries, capillaries, and veins.
