How do we respond to students in distress? • Respond • Demonstrate a caring attitude • Be aware of resources • Refer • Report
University Resources • Interfaith Center • Lend-a-Wing Food Pantry • LGBT Resource Center • One Stop Student Services • Military and Veterans Resource Center • Student Health Center • Student Ombudsman • Student Wellness Center • Women’s Center/Victim’s Advocates • Academic Advising • Counseling Center • Disability Resource Center • Employee Assistance Program • Equal Opportunity and Diversity Office • Financial Aid • Housing and Residence Life • Human Resources – Employee and Labor Relations
Factors to consider • Is the student an Injustice Collector? • Is their behavior changing? • Have they made comments about • harm to self or others?

Also consider the students observed behavior? • Disruptive? • Threatening – Direct or Indirect? • Violent?
The SOS Team The SOS team identifies and when necessary, intervenes in situations involving students whose behaviors may be cause for concern. SOS will: Investigate from multiple perspectives, Determine if this is an isolated incident or a pattern requiring intervention, And if so, develop a response to meet the student’s needs, balanced with the needs of the University
