For test takers enrolled in an OET review center in Quezon City, check out these ultimate test-taking strategies for the Listening Part A – Consultation Extracts: 1. Examine the healthcare professional’s notes For students attending review classes in OET Quezon City, use the following prediction techniques when examining the incomplete notes: Structure prediction– involves analyzing the sentence structure and grammar of the notes to predict what type of word will fill in each gap. For example, the phrase “suffer from” is commonly used a healthcare context, and since a preposition always follows a noun or a noun phrase, a gap after “suffers from” requires a noun or a noun phrase. Content prediction– requires focusing on the meaning of the words around the gaps and come up with various logical conclusions about what are the words that can fill in each gap. For example, a gap after the phrase “suffers from” must be followed by the name of a disease or a condition. 2. List down keywords As you listen to the recordings, write down essential words and phrases that can help you determine the gaps in the incomplete notes. During your review classes in OET Quezon City, look for practical tips and strategies to develop your note-taking skills. 3. Analyze the ideas in each recorded consultation Keep in mind that order of the ideas in the recorded consultations is the same as the order of ideas in the incomplete notes, so you must follow the headings and subheadings in the incomplete notes as you listen to each recorded consultation. However, the terms used in the recorded consultations are not the same as the words and phrases indicated in the incomplete notes. Use your knowledge about synonyms and paraphrasing when filling in each gap. 4. Manage your time
