  6. Energy efficiency of buildings • 40 % of energy is used for buildings • Finance is often the bottleneck for energy efficiency renovations • Commission proposed Smart finance for Smart Buildings initiative • Policy objectives and financing have to go hand in hand

Conclusions • Time for action is now! • The next MFF will run seven years from 2021 and the annual procedures are more fine tuning than major changes • The next MFF has to clearly reflect our priorities in tackling climate change • Higher ambition for climate mainstreaming good signal, but has to be put into practice • Promoting climate and sustainability in policymaking has to be continuous work.
