Objective: • The purpose of a behavior modification system is to provide an environment in which special needs students can achieve personal and educational growth and development. Through rewards, this behavior management system will promote positive changes in the students’ behavior while providing an ideal educational environment with consistent, fair, firm and structured boundaries.

Points • Points are the foundation of the behavior management system. They are earned throughout the school day in each class period. • 15 points per period • 7 periods a day • Possible 105 per day • Each point is worth $.01
Pointscan be used for: • Snacks • Drinks • Gift certificates • Or any other item that is appropriate • *No cash will every be given to the students!
Days • Days are steps that determine how high a student can climb on the level system. • The average daily points determines whether a student will increase, decrease or remain on the same day. • The average is calculated by adding up all the points earned each day and dividing by 7 periods.
Behavior Management System: Required Points • Level 1 – 10 points + 1 day 8 (or less) -1 day • Level 2 – 11 points + 1 day 9 (or less) -1 day • Level 3 – 12 points + 1 day 10 (or less) -1 day • Level 4 – 13 points + 1 day 11 (or less) -1 day • Level 5 – 14 points + 1 day 12 (or less) -1 day • Honors –15 points + 1 day 13(or less) -1 day
Levels Levels are used to determine which privileges a student has earned. This can include classroom activities, incentives, and/or participation during class trips students. Behavior Management System: Required Days Level 1 – Day 0 – 19 Level 2 – Day 20 – 39 Level 3 – Day 40 – 59 Level 4 – Day 60 – 79 Level 5 – Day 80 – 99 Honors – 100
Level System Privileges Level 1 / Days 0-19- NO Privileges Level 2 / Days 20-39- Can purchase food/snacks for breakfast/snack Can attend educational trips Level 3 / Days 40-59- Can purchase snack & drink (one drink per day Can attend incentive trips: (Marking Period 1 & 2- Below day 50) (Marking Period 3 & 4- Above day 50) Level 4 / Days 60-79- One free snack per day Can go to restroom without an escort Can choose an approved seat in the lunchroom Level 5 / Day 80-99- One special breakfast once per week Level 6 / Day 100+ Honors- One special lunch once per week
Student Data • Days, Points and Levels are posted on the bulletin board in each homeroom • A record of progress is kept on each student Incidents or write ups Time Out Log Participation in Daily Incentives Participation in Weekly Incentives Participation in Monthly Incentives
