Class Policy & SOP Mrs. Chupek Copley High School
CLASS EXPECTATIONS Students are expected to follow the below-listed rules in addition to the unspoken expectation of being respectful of yourself, your peers, the classroom and your teacher. • Be on TIME to class---that means in your seat, ready to go BEFORE the bell rings! • Bring your TEXTBOOK and all materials to class EVERYDAY. • Be responsible for missed work/tests/quizzes when absent. • ALL handbook rules are enforced in the classroom. • Participation in all class activities with respect and enthusiasm.
PLEASE DO NOT… • Perform personal grooming while in class. • Ask me to loan you any class materials. • Touch anything that does not belong to you without asking permission first.
CONSEQUENCES • The following progressive consequences apply to both discipline and tardy offenses: • 1st Offense: verbal warning • 2nd Offense: verbal warning and parent/guardian contact • 3rd Offense: after-school detention and parent/guardian contact • 4th Offense & beyond: referral, after-school detention and contact
Trivia Time • A new Trivia Time question will be posted at the beginning of each week. • Locate the answer, write it on a HALF-SHEET of paper along with your name by 2:25 by the LAST day of the school week. • Place it in the Trivia Time box. • Correct answers will receive the following points • Honors—1 pt • General—5 pts • No points are deducted for incorrect answers.
Honor Points • Each student begins the quarter with 10 “honor” point (i.e. homework points) • Consider this a free homework assignment (if you don’t lose any points)! • Points will be assigned at the close of each quarter solely at my discretion based on your behavior, participation, attitude, etc. • Points will be deducted for a variety of reasons but most definitely for • OSS/ISS • Tardies to class • Classroom policy infractions
General Requests • There will be no sleeping or putting your head down unless I am aware of a situation necessitating otherwise. • No cell phones visible during class (see cell phone policy) • Remain in your seat UNTIL the BELL RINGS!! • If we are done with class, you may move but you MUST be in a desk which means we are not gathering around the door before the end of class. • Trim “fringies” off of any spiral notebook paper upon submission. • Please raise your hand to contribute to the class when a direct question is posed. If a questions is followed by “Anyone?” that is your cue that anyone in the class may answer out loud at that time.
Make Up Work Policy • General students may turn in missed assignments up to one day late for 50% of your score. • Field trips are NOT excused absences and assignments must be turned in PRIOR to your field trip absence. • You must make up your work within the same period of time you were absent. • Advocate for yourself. If you have extenuating personal circumstances, bring your concerns to me for consideration. This is within reasonableness of circumstance and number of occurrences and must be done in a timely manner.
