  1. 1Corinthians 15:12-58 • Part 1 • “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall be made alive”

  2. Conflicts in the church • Jews believed in a bodily resurrection • Greeks and Romans did not • Did the Resurrection happen? Did Jesus even die on the cross for the resurrection to happen?

  3. What do other religions say? • Most everyone believes in a life after death • Jews and Muslims believe in a bodily resurrection • Hindus do not quite believe in a bodily resurrection • They do believe that the soul continues and takes on other forms

  4. Is the resurrection of Christ significant? What does it mean to the believer?

  5. 4 things we need to know • There is a bodily resurrection for everyone • The Resurrection of Christ is the single most important piece of the Gospel message. • It is what sets Jesus Christ apart from all other religious leaders – He establishes His Deity • It is the basis of our hope

  6. How does it affect our lives? Recognizing the uniqueness of the Lord Jesus Christ strengthens the Gospel message A deeper and personal appreciation for the work of the Lord Jesus on the cross A certain hope for not only this life but for the one to come

  7. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • Christ’s resurrection speaks of a bodily resurrection for mankind (Verses 12&13, 29-34) • Why do people baptize on behalf of the dead? • Why do people face hardships in the name of Christ? • All will be raised - Dan 12:2; John 5:28-29

  8. Think about it If there is no resurrection of the dead, then, why even bother living a Godly life or why bother living a life with rules – for everything will end at your death. Why need Christ?

  9. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • Verses 14-19 • The Christian faith is with power (Acts4:33) • God’s message is true (Verse 14-15) • Proves the deity of Jesus (John 10:17-18 • The apostles were witnesses • The Apostles message was true • Acts 2:24, 32

  10. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • It strengthens our faith (hope) – I Pet 1:3 • The penalty of sin has been paid for (Rom 4:25) • He died to pay the penalty • He was raised to show that the payment has been accepted

  11. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • Verses 20-28 • Christ the firstfruit of a man coming to life (Col 1:18-19) • And himself is the head of the body--the assembly--who is a beginning, a first-born out of the dead, that he might become in all things --himself--first,

  12. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • because in him it did please all the fulness to tabernacle, and through him to reconcile the all things to himself--having made peace through the blood of his cross--through him, whether the things upon the earth, whether the things in the heavens.

  13. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • Verses 20-28 • Process of bringing all under subjection • Daniel 7:13-14,27 • I saw in the night visions, and behold, One like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him.

  14. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • And dominion and glory was given Him, and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations and languages, should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which shall not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

  15. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • Da 7:27 And the kingdom and rulership, and the greatness of the kingdom under all the heavens, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. And all kingdoms shall serve and obey Him.

  16. Implications of Christ’s Resurrection • Ps 110:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand until I place Your enemies as Your footstool. • Re 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death.

  17. Think about it God’s plan has always been to fellowship with mankind and to have mankind reign with Him The resurrection of righteous (with the man Christ Jesus as the beginning) has been His plan to make this happen

  18. Conclusion • The Resurrection of Christ is the single most important piece of the Gospel message. • It is what sets Jesus Christ apart from all other religious leaders – He established His Deity • It is the basis of our hope

  19. I serve a risen Saviour; He's in the world today. I know that He is living, whatever men may say. I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer, And just the time I need Him He's always near.

  20. He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

  21. Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian! Lift up your voice and sing Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King! The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find, None other is so loving, so good and kind. 

  22. He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.
