Mandate • ICAO language services related to interpretation, translation and publication of documents are provided in the six official ICAO languages to support the Organization to achieve its Strategic Objectives
Services provided • Provision of interpretation services for ICAO meetings in all six official languages of the Organization • Timely issuance of working papers for ICAO meetings on the basis of simultaneous distribution in the six official languages of ICAO • Timely issuance of publications to Member States • Enhancement of quality through application of new technologies, including computer-assisted translation • Alignment of translation productivity standards with those of the United Nations
Services provided (cont’d) • Standardized outsourcing of translation services • Enhancement of quality management of outsourced translations implemented • Achievement of parity in staffing for all languages • Phase-in of Arabic and Chinese documents not yet available in those languages, funded by voluntary contributions • Introduction of new technologies, including a proactive document planning and management
