Hi Eric – a list of things to be covered • List of long-lead procurements • Technical Specifications for each • Cost Estimate for each (show contingency explicitly) • Design • Procurement • Basis for cost estimate (vendor quote, recently purchased or manufactured item) • Schedule for each • Design (show milestones for design complete • Procurement (show RFQ date, interval for bid, selection milestone, construction/delivery) • Manpower required for each • Design • Procurement • Place in context of injector turn-on schedule • Place in context of LCLS overall schedule • Comments on risk assessment • Show PED and R&D Budget and Plans for FY2004-2005 • Show list of special process spares • Slides for your back pocket • Comparison of present cost estimate to last year’s estimate, item by item • All of the slides from the last review – study them, be prepared to explain changes or contradictions Speaker, Affiliation
Hi Eric! More stuff • You should cover the procurement strategies- • Demonstrate existing designs , cost estimates for the long-lead items • Describe the basis for the cost estimate- vendor quote? Actual cost of item bought or built recently? • Categorize the type of procurement: • Will we go for firm fixed price bids • Will we define a qualification process for vendors to be sure we don’t get a fly-by-night outfit making the winning bid? What will the qualifications be? • Will we go for a sole-source (no competitive bid)? Why? • Name several vendors as alternate sources for what is to be purchased commercially • Show contingency item by item, be prepared to explain a rationale for the quoted contingency • Show the special process spares list • For your back pocket- have Paul’s slides available • Review the undulator presentations from 4/2002 Speaker, Affiliation

Alternative format for graphics to depict schedule This is done by creating a timeline in MS Excel- you can edit this one by double-clicking it or, working in Excel, -select the relevant area by mouse/left click -go to “edit” menu -select “copy -activate the Powerpoint window -go to the “edit” menu -select “paste special” -select “Microsoft Excel Object” Speaker, Affiliation
If you have MS project forms, that is OK too. Those of you who want to make your graphics with MS Project should get together and standardize Format. Speaker, Affiliation
