  2. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians who view spiritual endeavors as their highest priority. Acts 2:42 • “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.” 1 Cor. 15:1,2 • “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Cor. 15:58

  3. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians who view spiritual endeavors as their highest priority. Acts 2:42 • “He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard…” Col. 1:21-23

  4. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians truly concerned about the welfare of their brethren. Acts 2:45 • “whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” 1 Jn. 3:17,18

  5. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians truly concerned about the welfare of their brethren. Acts 2:45 • “If you love me, keep my commandments” John 14:15 • “Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.” Lk. 12:33

  6. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians truly concerned about the welfare of their brethren. Acts 2:45 • “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart” 1 Pt. 1:22 • “For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you.” 2 Cor. 9:12-14

  7. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians possessing a unity those looking on can appreciate. Acts 2:45-47 • One Accord - “A unique Greek word, used 10 of its 12 New Testament occurrences in the Book of Acts, helps us understand the uniqueness of the Christian community. ‘One Accord’ is a compound of two words meaning to “rush along” and “in unison”. The image is almost musical; a number of notes are sounded which, while different, harmonize in pitch and tone. As the instruments of a great concert under the direction of a concert master, so the Holy Spirit blends together the lives of members of Christ’s church” Strong

  8. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians possessing a unity those looking on can appreciate. Acts 2:45-47 • “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Mt. 5:13-16

  9. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians possessing a unity those looking on can appreciate. Acts 2:45-47 • “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1 Cor. 1:10 • “fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” Php 2:2

  10. What Does The Church Need Today? • Christians possessing a unity those looking on can appreciate. Acts 2:45-47 • “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” Jn. 17:21 • “That the world, so full of animosities and fighting’s, may see the power of Christian principle in overcoming the sources of contention and producing love, and may thus see that a religion that could produce this must be from heaven. This was done. Such was the attachment of the early Christians to each other, that a heathen was constrained to say, see how these Christians love one another!" Barnes
