Important Fact Of Kasserine The Battle Of Kasserine Pass, represents one of the worst American military performances in the twentieth century.
Rommel’s Suggestion • On February 4th, Rommel suggested to Arnim that he should continue with his aggressive attacks against the Allies while he would do the same further south. Nazi Germany had just been stunned by the surrender of the German VI Army at Stalingrad, so a major victory in North Africa would go a long way to redressing this defeat.
Fredendall • Fredendall was anything but an aggressive leader who had hopefully deployed his troops in isolated outposts
The 10th Panzer • The 10th Panzer began the offensive near fade by skipping past American 168th Regimental Combat Team and then pounding into the American Combat Command A
British Lieutenant General Kenneth Anderson • He was Fredendall’s commanding officer and a man equally responsible for the initially poor allied dispositions, attempted to withdraw his exposed army in response to the carnage at the front.
Rommel Failed Offensive • Kasserine Pass had been the last throw of the dice for Axis armies in North Africa, the Axis armies in Tunisia sat trapped between two powerful armies and reliant on a logistical chain perpetually in crisis, as the Allies enjoyed overwhelming naval superiority and new air bases in Algeria and Libya from which to launch attacks on Axis shipping.
