Project Description 1. Think about any type of career that interests you. • Investigate at least one type of math you will need for that career. 3. Research websites that help teach a concept of math that is needed for that career. • Pick up a Geometer’s Sketchpad assignment related to the math you found. • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation to share with the class that describes your findings. • Present your Sketchpad assignment to the class.
How to prepare your PowerPoint • You may prepare your PowerPoint in the school lab or at home. • Email it as an attachment to cmaselli@beniciaunified.org • I will review your presentation, make suggestions and send it back to you to make revisions if necessary. • Email your final work to me, or save it on a flash drive and bring it to class.
What to include in your PowerPoint • The career you have chosen • Why you are interested in this career • What type of mathematical concepts you have found related to this career • How this math is used in that specific career • Make a link for any websites you have found regarding this career • Make a link for any math websites you have found to help explore further at least one of the mathematical concepts needed for the career
Other things you can do …. • Make a movie instead of a PowerPoint… • Interview someone that works in a career that interests you…get some examples of how they use math. Put it on video or give a demo.. Make sure you still give us some math sites to help us learn….
Be Creative!!! • Add pictures, clip art and/or graphics. • Use slide transitions. • Use sound. • Add effects. • Do at least one of these on each slide. • Have fun with it. • It doesn’t have to be long, but it should be interesting!
