Localisation of EU Funding • Establishment of a national ‘EU Growth Programme’ • LEPs to develop EU investment strategies • Each LEP to be given a ‘notional allocation’ of EU funding to prioritise • Payments to be made centrally • Notional allocations will be reviewed against performance from 2017 onwards

D2N2 Funding • Local Growth Fund £450m, much is earmarked for significant projects to date (source: SEP 19 Dec 2013 pg 56) • EU Structural & Investment Funds – £104.4m ERDF & £97.7m ESF (source: SEP 19 Dec 2013 pg 56) • Community Led Local Development (CLLD) – whilst not exclusively rural D2N2 have committed to including CLLD to 5% into the Structural & Investment Funds Strategy 2014 – 2020 • European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) -sterling allocation is £6,055,134

EUSIFStrategic Objectives • Support the development of a more highly skilled and qualified workforce across D2N2 by improving educational attainment, retaining more of our graduates (and attracting back our young people who have studied elsewhere) and increasing levels of workforce training and development. • Improve the alignment between the supply of skills in D2N2 and employer demand by making the skills system more responsive, ensuring young people and adults are better informed about skills needs and ensuring all our young people have the opportunity to acquire the skills and aptitudes they need for work. • Increase levels of employment by creating jobs and reducing levels of unemployment and inactivity in our more deprived communities.
