  2. The Beginning • Multimedia Development Plans at both Universities Duisburg and Essen since 1998 • Mostly ICT infrastructure, media equipment for lecture halls, first pioneer projects mainly centred on media-enriched class room Group COLLIDE

E-Learning “Credo” • E-Learning = mainly support for class room activities • Secondarily, e-learning = distance learning, mostly for postgraduate studies • To date two distance courses: • Certificate/Diploma/Master Educational Media • Virtual Training: Further Course of Studies Economical Informatics (VAWI)

  4. Notebook-University 2002-4 • Learning/Teaching Scenarios • WLAN infrastructure • Support infrastructure • subsidised Notebooks in selected study courses

E-Competence Project 2002-5 • To win broader layer of lecturers beyond pioneers/early adopters and root e-learning in the University • Start where the lecturers are by individual support/consulting and coaching • ca 850 consultancies in Duisburg and Essen, ca 7% lecturers use e-learning, mostly low-level (file-sharing, powerpoint)

E-Competence Agency • Agency since 2006 as permanent service (2 fulltime staff) • Marketing Agency for Centre for Information and Media Services and University Library (E-Services) • Consulting Agency for staff of University and some student categories mostly for E-Learning, esp. Moodle • About 500 consulting sessions/year

  7. E-Point • Helpdesk • Direct Support esp. For students on all things digital • Run by library and CIM mainly with student assistants • Located in main library on both campusses • Also work via virtual service desk

  8. E-University Project 2006-8 • E-Learning Innovation Projects on the basis of internal tender • Support: didactic consulting, service/technical consulting, production • ca 80 projects in 5 “waves” across all faculties and departments • List of innovation projects according to faculty/department

  9. E-Learning Award • First awarded 2007 • Six Finalists from E-University Innovation Projects • One Winner: Economics - Seminar Strategic Controlling; Moodle used in realising a concept of intensive support for students

  10. E-University Strategy • Vision E-University: seamless integration of all processes and their support by ICT • Integration of e-learning, e-services, e-sciences • Campusmanagement system

  11. Sector Information, Communication, Media • E-University as a vision in guidelines/mission statement of University • ICT sector directly linked via pro-rector for ICM • Close integration of service provider CIM and Library • Cooperation sector: E-Competence and E-Point

  12. E-Learning in the UAMR • Cooperation of three universities along the Ruhr: Bochum, Dortmnd, Duisburg-Essen: University Alliance Metropolitan Area Ruhr (UAMR) • One field: joint e-learning courses, first tender 2008: 10 projects
