Welcome to World Class Skills • Designed to help providers enhance the way they work with employers with the long term vision of up skilling the UK's workforce. • A fully subsidised Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) programme, that will equip providers with the knowledge and tools to become an exemplar organisation. • The WCS programme includes workshops, seminars, consultancies and thematic projects. • The WCS is partnering with the Association of Colleges, 157 Group and the Association of Learning Providers. • Increased provider delivery during 2009/10 • Currently planned to finish in March 2010
The programme to date • 38 one day courses covering core business skills – events for LSC funded training providers. Over 450 events have been delivered so far • Intensive consultancies with 548 providers. • The sharing and dissemination of leading practice across nine Thematic Projects, including the role of HR, effective information systems and bottom line benefits for employers. • Support for the innovation pathfinders for the development of Business Innovation Services and Knowledge Transfer including capturing progress and learning through multimedia modules. Dissemination events are now available for booking. • Support for National Skills Academies provider networks.

New WCS offerings Events Schedule includes new topic events on strategic marketing, employer engagement strategies and income generation. Network events available for groups of providers at their own location. Coaching & mentoring Sector coaching offers mentoring from a sector expert peer. Peer reference groups work together on an issue of their choice. Surgeries offer short appointments on a common issue with a sector expert. Consultancy support Intensive, bespoke one to one consultancies. Group consultancy for networks of providers. Post consultancy review for providers embedding earlier consultancy. Effective practice & innovation New round of Thematic Development Projects. Showcase and share leading practice in sector dissemination events. Support for business innovation. Online resources Resources available include e-learningmodules, CPD calculator, eLMI tools and lots of online resources, case studies and practical documents Specialist sector support Customised for National Skills Academies (NSAs), providers looking to improve their Apprenticeships provision or those working to achieve TQS Part B certification
Apprenticeships • A range of services is available in this area including: • Sector coaches • Online facilitated learning events – delivering in the public sector • Regional events and group consultancies • Apprenticeship Improvement and Development (AID) • Group Training Associations & Apprenticeship Training Associations (GTAs/ATAs) • A route-map tool for apprentices facing redundancy
Hot off the press… • Supporting LSC pre-employment programmes • Support programme for providers taking part in the LSC Response to Redundancy and Six Month Offer: • Group Consultancy across all nine regions • 10 – 12 providers per region • 4 regional workshops November 2009 – March 2010 • Each provider will receive 5 days on-site individual consultancy

Consultancy Support Topic Areas • There are a total of 33 topics included in consultancy support plans, of which the top 10 make up 77% of the total consultancy days requested: • CRM • Marketing • Engaging employers • Working with TQS Part A • Effective Training Needs Analysis (TNA) / Organisational Needs Analysis (ONA) • Using LMI to develop a market analysis • Assessing employer responsiveness using the ERF • Process management and improvement • Strategy and planning development • Effective Information Advice and Guidance (IAG)
