Other Traditions • Children write letters to parents wishing them a wonderful Christmas celebration and promising to be good. • On Christmas Eve, many candles are lit as children take turns telling the story of Christmas and the birth of the holy “bambino.” • Families gather around the “Presepio”, a shrine to the Holy Child, and pray.
Christmas Eve • A day of abstinence from meat • Evening meal is a lavish banquet • Gifts are distributed after Midnight Mass • Mother places the Bambino in the manger on Christmas morning
