Highlights • MACS Program • 1,000 tons of soil annually, 100 tons of manure daily • FY06- 128,000+ acres of cover crops planted, 84,000lbs of N, 2,800lbs of P • FY07- 450,000 acres for cover crop program • Nutrient Management • 1.25 M acres under nutrient management plans • BNR/ENR • 16.6 M lbs/yr N, 1.96 M lbs/yr P (as of 2005) from WWTPs • Special Rivers • Over 7,600 acres of forest buffer planted • Over 73,000 acres under a forest stewardship plan • Over 64,000 citizens educated through outreach
106 Funding • MDE Water Management Administration • NPDES program/permitting, regulatory monitoring, TMDLs • Managed through a multi-year Performance Partnership Agreement w/ EPA • DNR • Water quality/biological monitoring, state integrated report support, enhanced tidal monitoring, aquatic resource surveys
319 Funding • MDE • $2.6M for projects starting July 1, 2008 • ½ of the funds going to 12 implementation projects • 1/3 going to 5 tracking and monitoring projects (2 feeds to CBP) • 1 project for grant admin & overhead • NPS Plan is currently under revision
Future of CBIG • next year, MD is reopening CBIG as a competitive grant program • CBIG, CZM, and CBTF all housed within CCP division • CAP and CBTF as guidelines
