What is it made of? • Today’s LEDs have Indium tin oxide which makes the LED a lot brighter and last longer. • Indium tin oxide is transparent and colorless but when you put infrared light on it, it turns into a mirror of what color you are trying to get • This is one of the most used oxides because of all its properties and what it can do • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indium_tin_oxide

What’s it made of cont. • The main part of it is chips in it that shoot around electrons to different parts to emit light. • They started making LED’s around WW2 and kept on finding new technology. • Today’s LED’s are used in a lot of products because of how bright they are. • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-emitting_diode

How does it work? • LED’s don’t have a filament which means they wont burn out and they don’t get really hot. • They work mainly by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor • They last a very long time and go far past any other light bulb life • There are little chips in each one that throw around electrons that make light.
