  2. 1 de Dezembro • In 1640 Portugal was under Spanish domination since 1580 when the king D.Sebastião died in the battle of Alcácer Quibir • This Independence was consumed in the 1st of December of 1640 with the revolt of elements of the people and the nobility, claiming King João IV as king of Portugal.
