BYOD Scope • HS - full BYOD • Minimum requirements of device • wifi • web browser • approx. 65% student adoption rate • 325 district laptops distributed by depts. • 275 iPods & iPads - loan from library • MS and Elementary pilots • 4th grade lowest grade level
BYOD – Steps Taken • AUP was not changed • Mobile devices allowed • Created BYOD Guidelines- posted on CAIU's wiki • Added to Student Handbook • Letter to parents/student body - Aug • Ongoing support and training in pursuit of this initiative • Opening day activities • Marking Period 1 Goal for Teachers • In-Service Days (9/26/12 and 10/8/12) • Created ITC’s (Instructional Technology Coaches) • Starting student technology assistants (STA)
ITC Roles/Responsibilities • Facilitating technology integration • Initiating interactions/consultations with teachers • Researching & sharing ideas • Faculty meetings • Twitter, social media, moodle • PLC work
ITC Roles/Responsibilities • ITC’s are mobile people in pursuit of our goals for 21st Century Skills and H.E.A.T. • ITC’s visit classrooms (invitation, stopping by, “How can I help?”) • ITC’s collaborate/communicate regularly with each other • ITC’s are NOT a “help desk” resource • Teachers are also welcome to reach out to ITC’s
