The “Baby Shaker” application The application introduces itself with the following text: “"On a plane, on the bus, in a theatre. Babies are everywhere you don't want them to be!” The aim of the app is to shake the iPhone as hard as possible to stop the sounds of the baby crying. The “iBoobs” Application This application does what the title suggests – shows a video of a real women’s breasts which wobble for the camera. It was considered discriminatory against women’s sexuality, and was taken down within a matter of months after Apple found it to have explicit sexual content. Previous Page Next Page
The “Booty Caller” App Developer Bearded Pony describes this sexually discriminatory app as follows: “Keep the party going with Booty Caller, the iPhone's premier late night social coordinator. Choose a few of your most special ladies to be part of your booty call list. Then, when last call is made and the lights come up, just choose your level of difficulty, give your iPhone a shake, and one of the ladies will be randomly selected and called.” The word ‘booty’ was recognised by Apple and said to contain sexual content, therefore the App was taken off the iPhone store. The “iRevolver” Application “Have you always wanted to play with guns but were afraid to get hurt? iRevolver is your answer!” proclaims Peekabui, the developer of “iRevolver,” which he labels the “most realistic revolver simulator for the iPhone.”But wait, there’s more: “Are you and your friends up for a daring and unnerving game of Russian roulette but don't want to get hurt? Load some bullets into the gun, swipe your finger across the cylinder to spin and pull the trigger to test your luck!” iRevolver is still currently available on the iPhone app store. The “iPhone Gun” Application The iPhone Gun application, developed by Damabia, turns the iPhone touch screen into a virtual gun, allowing users to practice their shooting skills. Still currently available on the iPhone App Store, the application allows for a wide selection of weapons, from revolvers to shotguns. Previous Page Next Page
The “Relapse - Eminem” Application This game features the controversial rapper Eminem as an escaped patient from a mental ward, running the streets with weapons to “protect” himself from those trying to capture him. The “iSnort Mimics” Application This controversial application promotes illicit drug use. The simulation demonstrates to users how to effectively snort three consecutive lines of cocaine. The user of the application chops up the cocaine with a card, moves the substance into three lines and snorts up the drug. The app is described as follows: "Be the envy of the in-crowd. Get ejected from nightclubs Shock and amaze your so-called friends. Get oral sex from Z-list celebrities." iSnort Mimics is currently available on the App Store. Previous Page Next Page
“Prohibition: Dope Wars” Application Developed by Hardy Macia and Catamount Software , the application was forced into lockdown due to its drug-dealing content. The application features a number of illicit drugs ready for the user to deal in the virtual world, from acid, cocaine, ecstasy and heroin. The objective is to sell as many drugs as possible whilst making money. The application was taken off the iPhone App Store because of its promotion of drug dealing. Previous Page Next Page
The “I Am A Man” Application This application is for men in particular and is said to help organise their “private life”. The user is able to record their girlfriend’s moods, menstrual cycle and PMS stages, along with making money on the way. However the program allows for the user to add several girls, and to track each of their menstrual cycles.
