  1. UPDATE as of November 2010 ASJA GIRLS’ COLLEGE TUNAPUNA HOLY FAITH CONVENT, PENAL PENAL SECONDARY TUNAPUNA SECONDARY ICT IMPLEMENTATION

  2. INTRODUCTION • Each school is at a different stage in the implementation of MOE’s ICT Policy. Whereas certain components of implementation remain fixed, the unique culture of each school will affect the rate and nature of this process.

  3. SCHOOL READINESS • Flip-top desks were purchased and hasps and staples attached. • Science lab used for interim storage • Electrical upgrade and installation of A/C still to be done • Surveillance Cameras to be installed in Form One classrooms

  4. TEACHER READINESS • One day training scheduled for last week of school based on this workshop. • Heads to schedule weekly training sessions. • Monthly Reports by Heads to be prepared and submitted

  5. STUDENT READINESS • Basic Computer Literacy skills on an on-going basis as part of the Year One Scheme of Work. • Introduction to care and proper use of the laptop. • Students made aware of School Policy for laptop use

  6. PARENT READINESS • Form One parents were sensitized to MOE and School Policy re: laptops • In house training in Basic Computer Literacy Skills to be provided for parents

  7. OPERATIONAL STRATEGIES • Availability of ICT Technician and use of Equipment Log already in existence • Meetings - Departments, Middle Management will continue as scheduled. • ICT Team with assistance of Staff developed School ICT Policy. This team is scheduled to meet on a monthly basis to monitor operations and give feedback

  8. TO DO LIST • Needs Assessment for electrical upgrade for Form One classrooms • Purchase of storage cabinets • Installation of surveillance cameras • Purchase of additional equipment as identified by Staff

  9. THE WAY FORWARD…ourthoughts • Curriculum delivery -an important aspect of an administrator’s job spec. • A holistic approach to be used to effect this. • Infusion of technology-ethical component • End product – a ‘techno-savvy’ human
