  1. One Body by Design The Body of Christ and Our Spiritual Gifts / Functions In It – Part Two

  2. Romans 12:4-8 4 For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith;

  3. 7 if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching;8or he whoexhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

  4. 1 Corinthians 12:27 - 13:13 27 Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it. 28 And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues. 29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? 30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? 31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts.

  5. 13:1If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

  6. 4Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and isnot arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

  7. 8Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away;if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did

  8. away with childish things. 12For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

  9. 1 Peter 4:10-11 10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

What Is a Spiritual Gift? • A Spiritual Gift is a supernatural enabling (ability, capacity), given by the Holy Spirit at our spiritual rebirth, according to His will, for the common good of the Body. • “These are the supernatural graces which individual Christians need to fulfill the mission of the church.” (Wikipedia) • “A spiritual gift is the God-given capacity of every Christian to carry out his function in the body of Christ.” (bible.org)
