SHDSL new international standards from ETSI (TS 101 524) and ITU-T (G.991.2) drafts released in 12.00 only one copper pair is sufficient for a full performance compared with HDSL longer distances due to new 16PAM line code (4B1HEX) symmetrical transmission up to 2312 kbit/s multirate „trading speed for distance“ - adjustable line speed spectral compatibility with other services in the same cable (e.g. POTS, ISDN, HDSL, ADSL, etc) -more pairs can be used than with HDSL low power consumption remote power feeding of NTUs and regenerators (applications not possible with ADSL) Transmission (3) • Single platform for xDSL and optical transmission
