IETF SPIRITS WG

This update reflects the dual nature of SPIRITS events, covering wireline and wireless network events. The revision includes non-call related events such as location and mobility, expanding beyond traditional call setup events. The current draft addresses both call-related and non-call related events, with ongoing work to resolve open issues. Key topics include encoding location in XML, propagating non-call events, and creating a framework for application-specific events.

  1. IETF SPIRITS WG 55th IETF, Atlanta, GA SPIRITS Protocol Issues <draft-ietf-spirits-protocol-03> Update presented by: Vijay Gurbani

  2. Changes to I-D • I-D has undergone re-write to reflect the dual nature of SPIRITS events: wireline network events and wireless network events. • Previous I-Ds focused mostly on wireline events related to call setup, teardown, and maintenance. • Present I-D encompasses network events unrelated to above (e.g. location, mobility, …)

  3. SPIRITS Hierarchy PSTN Events Non-call related Call related Static Dynamic Location App. specific

  4. Current I-D • The ‘Call related’ events section is complete at this time ( Need people to review it; no comments thus far on the WG email list). • ‘Non-call related’ events section is currently been worked upon. • Many open issues here: encoding location co-ordinates in XML, propagating non-call related events (mobile registration, de-registration, …), general framework for application-specific events, ...
