CERN, 1th February 2011 Magnetic model ACTIVITES FOR 2011 E. Todesco CERN, Geneva Switzerland
GENERAL TOPICS • Energy stays at 3.5 TeV • Cross-check of settings needed [P. Hagen] • Hysteresis removed [M. Strzelczyk] • Check that it behaves as expected • Beta* will go down to 1.5 m • Beta beating will probably be an issue over there • Corrections from measurements [R. Tomas] to be checked vs field model
Tune • Tune decay at injection • Rather large (up to 0.05 over 10 h) – since previous trims are used in the next run this can drive tune on resonances • A correction based on measurements is proposed[N. Aquilina] and implemented [M. Strzelczyk] Horizontal tune drift duringramp[N. Aquilina]
Chromaticity • Chromaticity decay at injection • Rather large 10-15 units • Correction based on measurements will be proposed [N. Aquilina, W. Venturini] • The scheme to correct during injection is already implemented [M. Strzelczyk]
Chromaticity • Chromaticity during ramp • In 2010 controlled within 15 units • We should do better this year: target of a factor 2 improvement Decay at 3.5 TeV Static model Chromaticityduring the 10 A/s ramps , 6 cases blue: horizontal - red: vertical [R. Steinhagen]
VAN DER MEER SCANS • During Van der Meer scans to calibrate luminosity a relevant hysteresis has been observed [M. Ferro-Luzzi] • Possibly related to MCBY, used to make the scan • To be investigated: this could improve the precision of the calibration
