Where Are We Today? USPS Customer Inconvenience • Confusing experience for our customers at retail • Customers choose from at least 10 different forms • Minimal content embedded in these bar codes • Customers who purchase more than one service are required to “rewrite” information for the same mail piece.
Where Do We Want to Be? • One intelligent bar code on every package • End to end visibility on every package • Bar codes that tell us more about the package and shipper for systems like EVS • Intelligence from bar codes is used to manage and grow our business
How Do We Get There Intelligent Bar Code On Every Package • Standardize bar codes for domestic and international • Enable UCC/EAN 128 Bar Code Symbology on all packages. • Provide unique identity and sortation • Update systems to collect, pass, and analyze information collected from the bar code
