Famous Landmarks Brooklyn bridge This famous landmark is a bridge in New York City connecting The city Manhattan to Brooklyn. This bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. It was completed in 1883, with a main span of 1,595.5 feet (486.3 m), it was the longest suspension bridge in the world from its opening until 1903, and the first steel-wire suspension bridge. The name Brooklyn Bridge came from a 1867 letter to the editor of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, and formally so named by the city government in 1915. Since its opening, it has become an icon of New York City, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964 and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1972.
Famous Landmarks Green-Wood Cemetery This famous landmark was founded in 1838 as a rural cemetery in Brooklyn, Kings County,New York. This was granteda National Historic Landmark status in 2006 by the U.S. Department of the Interior.Green-Wood Cemetery is located in Kings Heights, Brooklyn , and was Inspired by Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Acemetery in a naturalistic park in the English manner when it was first established. Green-Wood was able to take advantage of the varied topography provided by glacial moraines. Battle Hill, the highest point in Brooklyn, is on cemetery grounds, rising approximately 200 feet above sea level. As such, there on that spot in 1920, was erected a Revolutionary War monument by Frederick Ruckstull, Altar to Liberty: Minerva. From this height, the bronze Minerva statue gazes The Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. Henry Evelyn Pierepoint, a Brooklyn social leader, founded with the Green-Wood cemetery. It was a popular tourist attraction in the 1850s and was the place most famous New Yorkers who died during the second half of the nineteenth century were buried. It is still an operating cemetery with approximately 600,000 graves spread out over 478 acres. There are several famous monuments located there, including a statue of DeWitt Clinton and a Civil War Memorial. During the Civil War, Green-Wood Cemetery created the "Soldiers' Lot" for free veterans' burials. On December 5, 1876, the Brooklyn Theater Fire claimed the lives of at least 278 individuals, with some accounts reporting over 300 dead. Out of that total, 103 unidentified victims were interred in a common grave at Green-Wood Cemetery. The Green-Wood cemetery is still operating to this very day as one of Brooklyn’s main cemetery's.

Famous Landmarks 4. Grand Prospect Hall Grand Prospect Hall is a large Victorian banquet hall in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York. In 1892 John Kolle designed this museum, and hired a young architect, Ulrich J. Huberty. Grand Prospect Hall is a four story building faced in buff-gray brick, and features pressed metal decoration originally painted in imitation of limestone. Grand Prospect Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

As completed, the only streets that penetrate to the inner ring are Flatbush Avenue, Vanderbilt Avenue, Prospect Park West, Eastern Parkway, and Union Street, the outer ring is named Plaza Street. The plaza includes the Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch, Bailey Fountain, the John F. Kennedy Monument, statues of Civil War generals Gouverneur K. Warren and Henry Warner Slocum, busts of notable Brooklyn citizens Alexander J.C. Skeneand Henry W. Maxwell. This is a very fun and interesting way to spend the day.
