3. Stronger Together 1 Programs For 2008/09 the Western Region has a rolled out a total of 67 new day program places under the two new models, includes SMP Under Stronger Together, the Western Region allocated new flexible respite. In total there are 45 recurrent places & 16 non recurrent places for 3 years. 35 recurrent flexible respite places under the DAP, 32 Teen time places and 79 AFR packages. 10 new group homes. 3 OSS, 3 CJP, 2YPLC 2 YPRAC,up to 10 recurrent low-moderate social housing plus DIS packages (2 ABI) in Albury & 15 drop in support packages low to medium drop in supportpackages.

Stronger Together 2 • Stronger Together : A new direction for disability services in NSW: 2006-2016 commits the NSW Government to expanding existing services and building a more flexible and responsive disability service system. • Stronger Together 2: Work commencing on the second phase of Stronger Together • Business case to Treasury later this year looking to frame it around long term viability • Looking for good news stories and innovative programs

6. NSW HACC Triennial Plan 2008-11 • The HACC Plan is the formal basis for the allocation of funds to Local Planning Areas • HACC moved to a three year cycle now in year 2 • In 2008/2009 recurrent allocated $337,000 • In 2008/2009 $300,000 non recurrent and $300,000 research. • Awaiting approval for 2009/2010 recurrent $748,000 • Tenders advertised close date 3 December 2009 • 2009/2010 recurrent to be determined.

7. ADHC Update • ADHC Name The Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care is now known as Ageing, Disability and Home Care, Department of Human Services NSW. To effect this change, all outgoing correspondence/documentation will be amended to reflect the change in name to ‘Ageing, Disability and Home Care, Department of Human Services NSW’. • This includes contracts and funding agreements - all new contracts and funding agreements will refer to Ageing, Disability and Home Care as ‘The State of New South Wales as represented by Ageing, Disability and Home Care in the Department of Human Services’.  Existing contracts/agreements on foot need not be amended. • Financial impactsADHC has been registered with a new Australian Business Number (ABN) and a new Agency name. As of 19 October 2009 all tax invoices processed for payment by NSW Businesslink will reflect the new agency trading name. • Branding Interim agency letterheads have been developed for Central Office and each regions. • Further work • communication to the sector and clients.

8. Accommodation PQP ACCOMMODATION SUPPORT RSAUP 10 homes. 3 OSS, 3 CJP, 2YPLC 2 YPRAC PQP finalised and sector advised 5 group home contracts in WR, finalised by Mid 2010 First for COWRA by end of December 2009 Others Albury, Orange, Mudgee, Bathurst 2 additional YPRAC 2010 Cowra & Wagga

9. Community Consultations • Community Consultations: 23 forums to be run across the Western Region. • Consultations will run to between October to Mid December 2009 • Consultations advertised in the press and advised to local community organisations and providers • Objective is to gather input form a variety of stakeholders for HACC and disability funding • Specific ATSI consultations planned for early 2010

10. Funding Management System Update • The June 2009 communication explaining the Funding Management System (FMS) is available on the Service Provider Portal • DADHC regional offices continue to align contract data to the FMS structure and are contacting providers as necessary • The data alignment approach recognises the balance between accountability of contracted services and the impact on the provider • Implementation is anticipated in mid-2010 • Future FMS updates will be available through the Service Provider Portal • If providers have questions about the FMS, they can contact their project officer from their local regional DADHC office

11. New Positive Ageing initiatives • Two new Positive Ageing initiatives have been introduced to celebrate the 2009 United Nations International Day of Older People: the Positive Ageing Grants Program and the Applied Research Grants Program. • The Positive Ageing Grants Program provides grants of up to $50,000 for local government, community, and not-for-profit organisations to develop and implement projects that bring older people and the community together. • The 2009 Positive Ageing Grants Application form is available from ADHC’s website or by calling the Seniors Information Service on 13 12 44. • The Applied Research Grants Program provides grants of up to $250,000 for intervention research to be progressed by consortia of academic researchers and human service providers. • Research priorities for 2009/10 are drawn from Towards 2030: Planning for our changing population and include: • participation by older people in the volunteer workforce of the non-government sector; and  • application of new information and communication technology to support social inclusion and participation of older people. • Applications for the Positive Ageing Grants Program close on Friday 27 November 2009. 12. Challenging Behaviour Project • $400,000 2 years Currajong Waratah    •  Continuing work done by Julie Ryan on capacity building   • Two staff Orange and Wagga  • Training and capacity building, Tool kit and support material • Hands on skill development and training • Identified champions to support ongoing viability   • Details will be on the ADHC Portal

13. Respite Camps for Teens • The Respite Directorate has provided funds to Arts, Sport and Recreation (ASR) to deliver a Respite Camps for Teens with a Disability Program over the next three years through its Sport and Recreation Centres located across the State.    •  Camps  will be provided  in 2 streams :  • Stream One: Teenagers (12 - 17 years) with mild to moderate intellectual disability and  low to moderate support needs will participate in existing ASR camps .   • Stream Two: Teenagers (12 - 17 years) with moderate to severe intellectual disability and  moderate to high support needs will participate in a specialised camp program, along with their siblings   • The first Stream One camp is being piloted in the Hunter Region with further camps scheduled for the January and April school holiday periods.  •  ASR will be responsible for coordinating the camps and recruiting a funded provider to provide  the  intake  function and support workers for students accessing the program.  • Regions will work with and support ASR in identifying one or more suitable providers in each region and attracting families to the program.
