  4. Interesting Facts An interesting fact about apatite is that it dissolves in hydrochloric acid. Apatite is used in many fertilizers due to its abundance in phosphorous. Crystal healers use apatite to decrease hunger. • Apatite is also used as a protective coating on metals.

  5. Hardness Two minerals that are harder than apatite are : diamond and corundum. Two minerals that are softer than apatite are : talc and gypsum.
