  1. Rock CD Covers Annotations of CD covers within our chosen genre.

  2. The image shows the traditional conventions of rock genre. The fire and skull is associated with the genre. “100% THUG ROCK” is aggressive , “100%” is full on, no half measures with the genre. The black headline is outlined on the white background which makes it stand out more. The house-style colours which are normally associated with the rock genre (red and black) are used.

  3. The image of the woman on the CD cover outlines the “sex, drugs rock n roll” style associated with rock, the woman is dressed in a short black dress which shows the interest of the audience. The conventional rock genre colours are used on the CD cover (red and black) The shadow from the door on the red indicates the dark, scary feel that is often associated with the rock genre, which creates mystery which is also often found in rock music videos. The name of the band and album is in white on a dark background which stands out and is easier to read. The guns on the side with the rose is the house-style associated with this particular band.

  4. The way in which the bands name is written “back” with the “B” facing the other way shows individuality. This CD cover shows variation of codes and conventions which are often associated with rock. The CD cover is animated which has similar codes and conventions with other rock CD covers. The image of someone crying creates mystery, it is an extreme close-up of the eye with a silver tear falling which relates to the name of the album “silver side up”.
