Rewarding Fulfilling Challenging Changing Inspiring Emotionally charged Ethical motivation Not everyone can do it It is a special group Respected Admired Special connections I just love animals and therefore think I will be a good veterinarian My friends tell me I’m so good with animals and that I should be a veterinarian Why veterinary medicine?

Veterinary Medicine: When • “I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian” • “I think I’ll be a veterinarian” • “I’m ready for something else…maybe veterinary medicine would be good for me” • “My family has always been associated with veterinary medicine” • “Ever since Dr. ____ saved Buck’s life I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian”

Veterinary Medicine: How • Start early • Different for everyone • Simply getting started can be a challenge • Don’t be shy, dive in • Get educated • Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics • Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Genetics • Not only school education • Educate yourself on what your getting into
