報告の要旨 • 本発表では荷物運び（赤帽、ポーター）、移動集団、売春婦等教育機会を得ることが困難な状況にある社会的弱者の子どもに対する教育を行っているプネー市のNGO • (I) Samata Shikshan Sansthaおよび • (II) Hamal Panchyat 　の活動について、それぞれの代表者とのインタビューに基づく調査報告を行う。

(I) Samata Shikshan Sanstha • Samata Shikshan Sanstha　（平等教育団体） • Educational organization for “equality” for disadvantaged children • 設立：1972年12月 • Mission statement: To improve the situation of the downtrodden sections of society especially through the provision of educational and residential facilities, so thatthey get opportunity to develop themselves and become a part of the mainstream. • Motto: “Educate, Unite and Struggle” (Dr. Ambedkar)

(I) Samata Shikshan Sanstha • Renuka Mandal: working for the benefit of children of commercial sex workers (CSWs) • 設立：1981 • 事務局長（Secretary）: Prof. Vilas Wagh (イスラム教徒の売春の娘を自分の自宅で育て、結婚まで面倒を見た。その子は現在２児の母)

(I) Samata Shikshan SansthaProf. Vilas Wagh • Prof. Vilas Wagh was Assistant director in Adult Education Department. • Prof. Usha Wagh (wife of Prof. Vilas Wagh) earlier taught Mathematics and Statitistics at Pune’s prestigious Fergusson College. • They gave up their positions and set up Samata Shikshan Sanstha which runs hostels for the Other Backward Classes, schools for children of tribes that were named as criminal tribes by the British. They have even set up the Dr. Ambedkar College of Social Work in Dhulia under Jalgaon University. • They also run a publication house called Sugawa Prakashan.

It also started a community kitchen known as Kashtachi Bhakar where nutritious food was served at a nominal rate of Rs 5. Started in 1974, there are 12 kitchens now where almost 130 women from hamal households are employed for cooking and serving. These women, too, derive wage benefits of Rs 100 per day for eight hours of work. With this organisation constantly striving to improve their lot, hamals have found in it an ally who is willing to take some burden off their shoulders.
