Plants move to land…Nonvascular land plants (no tubes), no seeds • Mosses, Liverworts, Hornworts • http://www.sustainable-gardening.com/wp-content/uploads/MossFlickrIonushi.jpg • http://waynesword.palomar.edu/bryoph1.htm
What do you notice about the size of the mosses, hornworts, and liverworts?
Mosses, Liverworts, Hornworts • Cannot support structures, so cannot grow big • Cannot transport water/minerals very far • Must say moist • Have no way to get water/minerals, unless they are on the ground with it • Must use water to get the sperm to the egg (No seeds)
Vascular Plants • Roots, stems, and leaves.
Vascular Seedless Plants • Ferns • Horsetails • Club Mosses
Vascular Seedless Plants use Spores to reproduce. • Must be in very moist environments for reproduction.
Vascular Seed Plants • Gymnosperms – naked seed (cone bearers) • Angiosperms – flowering plants that produce a seed.
