  1. WHAT IS GTA? Georgetown Tennis Association Recognized by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as a Community Tennis Association as well as a National Junior Tennis & Learning Organization. Non-profit tennis specific organization that exists to utilize USTA and other programming to promote and develop the game of tennis in the community. Dedicated to providing tennis programs for junior players of all ages and ability to learn the fundamentals of tennis and advance their playing skills in a supportive and fun environment. Mission is to promote and develop the growth of tennis by fostering the love for tennis in Georgetown Scott County. And offers youth the opportunity to serve their community (JTL).

When & Where do I play? 8U/10U SCHDULES May 21- July 27th WELCOME to Brooking Park Courts Located in front of SCHS 8U Practice/Matches: Wednesday evening 5:30 or 6:30 & Saturday Mornings 9 or 10 Time will depend on Team Placement 10U Practices/Matches: Tuesday evenings 5:30, 6:30 or Thursday evenings 5:30, 6:30 or Monday morning 11:30 & Saturday Mornings 9-12 Coaches will notify you in Spring as to your team placement.

  13. CALLING ALL PARENTS!! PARENT TEAM TENNIS! NOW YOU can “play to learn” tennis just like your Jr. player! Our USTA certified instructors will work with you during your child’s practice to teach strokes, technique, match play and scoring. WHEN:May 31st-July 6th Tues & Wed 5:30 & 6:30 (you choose the day based on your child’s practice day) WHERE: Brooking Park courts $75 for 6 week session, made payable to GTA BRING a RACQUET and WATER $75 for 6 weeks!

ROLE OF THE PARENT Positive Parents Behaviors • Emphasize Fun • Stress Good On-Court Conduct • Keep Tennis in Perspective • Provide ways to improve (hit with your child) • Enjoy the time spent with your child and watching them develop not just into better tennis players, but into good citizens. What NOT to do during a match? • Do NOT coach your player • Do NOT verbally or physically abuse anyone • Let your child deal with issues during their matches. Allow them to learn as they go. Use issues on the court as life lessons. Tennis should be fun and rewarding experience for our children!

  20. 2011 Arthur Ashe Essay and Art Contest You Could Win a Trip to New York City to US Open 18 and Under Write or Draw your answer to the question, “Why do you think Arthur Ashe created the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network and how has your NJTL Chapter impacted your life?” • Be a VIP at Arthur Ashe Kids’, attend the US Open, see a Broadway show and receive a special award at a luncheon held in your honor. Essays must be in English and will not be returned. • (10) national essay winners and four (4) national art winners will be awarded a trip for two to New York (Aug. 26-28) and will be guests at the 2011 Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day • Entries, including completed entry form, must be submitted online to the USTA at www.usta.com/aaec or mailed or hand delivered to your local NJTL on June 1, 2011.
