What does it take to start TORCH? • Decide who you want to serve • K- 8th grade • 8th-12th grade • Adults • Seniors • Community agency • Decide what programs to offer • What subsection do they fall? • Check the TORCH website and handbook for ideas! • Decide where to offer your programs • At your college or university • Community center • Public Library • School
Volunteers, Funding and Participation • Get your chapter involved! • Use membership incentive programs • Do a volunteer challenge • Integrate in regular chapter activities • Fund your TORCH program • Fundraise • Apply to the National TORCH & Programs Funds • Don’t be afraid to start small with no funds • Community participation • Work with community based organizations • Advertise in local newspaper • Visit schools, community centers, and churches
