Founder • Henrietta Vinton Davis • Teacher • Actress • One of the original 13 members of the UNIA • established UNIA divisions in Cuba; Guadeloupe; Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands; Port au Prince, Haiti; Trinidad, Jamaica and throughout the United States • “Greatest Woman of the [African] Race” • First international organizer

Belizean BCN History • Founded by Vivian Seay in 1920 • Untrained members of the community • Main Focus: General nursing and infant care • Training • Classes twice a week due to low funding • Pay own fees • Began to train in hospital from 7am-2pm • In later years, senior member taught • Material limited • 1950’s - membership declined
